Ken Tharp, President

Ken founded Iowa Equity Exchange in 2007 with the mission of serving investors, business property owners, and land owners with integrity, precision, and security. As a real estate investor since 1979, Ken has been in your shoes; he has realized the benefits of Section 1031 exchanges for his own real estate portfolio. He has also experienced the same concerns you may have about whether his exchange was being handled properly and whether his funds would be readily available when they were needed.

Iowa Equity Exchange has grown to become a trusted partner to many in the real estate, business, agricultural, legal, and accounting fields. In demonstration of his commitment to professionalism and continuing education, in 2016 Ken earned the designation of Certified Exchange Specialist®. 

Lindsey Harrelson, Vice President

Lindsey joined Iowa Equity Exchange in February 2019, working as an exchange officer. Lindsey is Ken’s daughter and grew up thoroughly immersed in real estate. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Communications from the American University of Paris. Her background includes writing, editing, marketing, website content editing, and publication production. Lindsey is dedicated to precision and excellent customer service, and she is ready to skillfully guide you through the 1031 exchange process. In 2023, Lindsey became a Certified Exchange Specialist® designee.

Andrew Tharp, Vice President

Andrew began his career with Iowa Equity Exchange in January 2020. Andrew is Ken’s son and, as such, also grew up in the same real-estate-focused household. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Statistics with a minor in Computer Science from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He has a passion for researching 1031 case law, and is committed to providing outstanding service to our clients. Andrew earned his Certified Exchange Specialist® designation in 2023.
